News and Announcements

In preparation for the upcoming 12U season, the Loudoun Aces traveled to Nike Park to take on the Great Falls Nationals in an exhibition game Wednesday night at 6PM. The Aces received solid pitching performances from 6 pitchers over 7 innings, leading the Aces to a 10-8 victory.

The Aces got run support up and down the lineup using a combination of small ball and long ball. The 10 run output which saw hard hit balls by Joe Alexander, Landon Hawes, Conner Weeks and Mason Ambuhl as well as aggressive baserunning and well placed bunts was capped by a massive home run by Ryan Hoehn in the 5th inning.

The Aces also saw the debut of Mike Alba in an Aces’ uniform. Mike joins the team after a successful run with the Riverdogs organization which included a 2010 ODBL Championship. A 7th grader at Farmwell Middle School, Mike has consistently led his team in various offensive categories. The lefty hitter stung a double down the right field line in his 3rd at bat as a member of the Aces and also pitched 2 quality innings showing off his various pitches. Mike is not only a fan of the NY Yankees, but of roller coasters, the ocean and anything baseball. Welcome Mike and the entire Alba family to the Aces!

Next up for the Aces will be their season and home opening double header on September 9th at 1 & 3:30PM as they take on the Chantilly Raiders on Founders Field at Good Times Park.

After losing to a good Haymarket team for the Aces home opener, the 11U Aces came out strong in the second game of its opening doubleheader and gutted out a victory to earn a split.

With their Ace, Joe Alexander, on the mound the Aces could overcome some early mistakes. It was a hard fought game. Even though it was a great outing for Joe the Aces just couldn’t back him up with the bats. The Aces put together a come back threat in the 6th with men on second and third, but they could only score one run. With a final score of 7-4 the Aces could of easily been back in that game in seconds!

Lead by some clutch hits by Ryan Hoehn and Hayden Hawes, Game 2 of the Aces opening series at good old Good Times Park (or as Cam would say “good times, good times!”) saw the Aces get there first victory of the season. Parker Bednoski threw 4 1/3 in this game. The Aces did a whole lot better in the second game with the bats. The Aces up by 4 going into the 6th, but that won’t stop Haymarket from putting up a fight. The Bulls had a threat in the bottom of 6th and scored 3 runs, but Hayden Hawes gutted it out with the tying run stranded on bases. Hawes struck out one to get the second out, then got a wimpy ground ball to the first baseman Landon Hawes (no relation :)) to seal the game. The final score of game number 2 was 7-6.
