Aces:

I know many of you have started your very own creative winter workout program (see Justin in the attached photo showing it’s never too cold to take swings!!!). Keep it up!

Our formal DST winter workout schedule is posted on the website and it starts in January. I know that some of you have some potential travel basketball conflicts. I just ask that you please let me know as much in advance which weeks it may impact. We will be doing the same program as last winter where Jason will be with us for the hour. I want to maximize his time, so each week we will have him work with a smaller group. If I know who might be out that week, it will help me decide what to work on with him.

Although we just finished the fall season and winter is upon us, I am excited about getting started again.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
Talk soon, Kevin

Snow Cancels Aces October Finale

Even the extraordinary efforts made by the Aces’ parents on Friday night could stop yet another Sunday from coming and going without Aces baseball. The snow and ice that came killed the Aces’ chances of finishing the ODBL regular season at 8-0. The Aces will take their 6-0 ODBL record and 9-3 overall record into the postseason tournament this weekend being held in the middle of nowhere at the Virginia Sports Complex in Ruther Glen, VA.

Led by a stellar performance on the mound by Joe Alexander (6.0IP, 0R, 0H, 7K), the Loudoun Aces cruised to a 5-0 victory in game 1 of Sunday’s doubleheader against the KOA Sports A team in Bethesda, MD. Alexander was dominant with his command and threw the Aces’ first no-hitter in team history. Alexander struck out 7 on 77 pitches through his 6 innings of work. Offensively the Aces got off to a slow start with only 1 run through 5 innings, but scored 4 additional in the 6th to seal the victory. The Aces scattered 6 hits and 2 walks in this game dominated by pitching.

Offensively, Game 2 saw a completely different Aces team. Inspired by their 6th inning of game 1, the Aces, banged out 11 hits and walked 10 times to score 15 runs to win game 2, 15-7. Triples by Ryan Hoehn and Hayden Hawes along with a double by Alexander led the Aces in the hit parade. The Aces swiped a total of 16 bases in game 2 in scoring a season-high 15 runs. Conner Weeks and Hawes (4.0IP, 3R, 5K) combined on the mound for the Aces in the win.

The sweep brings the Aces’ record to 4-0 in ODBL league play and 6-2 overall. Up next for the Aces is a doubleheader against KOA’s sister team on October 2 in Rockville, MD.
